Community Conversation: Marshallese Voices

📍 Location: Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art Bentonville, ARThis free community conversation will explore the history, culture, and experiences of the Marshallese community in Northwest Arkansas, home to one of the largest Marshallese populations in the United States.
Hosted and moderated by Leyla Tore of Haas Hall Academy Bentonville, the conversation will feature UAMS physician Dr. Sheldon Riklon, Marshallese Educational Initiative (MEI) Executive Director and co-founder Benetick Maddison, and NWACC professor and MEI co-founder Dr. April Brown. Together, they'll share perspectives from healthcare, education, and community advocacy while exploring the unique relationship between the Marshall Islands and Northwest Arkansas.

Abortion in America is a nonpartisan organization working to identify, elevate, and support the voices of people harmed by abortion bans, using personal stories to transcend political divides, debunk disinformation, and inspire action.
If you have a personal story about how abortion bans have impacted your life, your health care, or your family, we want to hear from you. Please join us at these upcoming events or reach out to meet privately with our Arkansas organizer.
Arkansas Abortion Support Network will be there to educate the community on the state of abortion in Arkansas and the resources available.
Other grassroots organizations will be present to engage with those who wish to volunteer in the reproductive justice movement in Arkansas.

Block Party, donation drive for Fayetteville cooling shelter, and campaign fundraiser to re-elect Sarah Moore to Fayetteville City Council Ward 2

📍 Location: Leverett Lounge & Sit & Spin 737 N Leverett Ave. #1, FayettevilleCome support your community and the most progressive member of the Fayetteville City Council - Sarah Moore.
She has a long track record of spearheading progressive issues in our city, and supporting the people in our community most people overlook.
Save the date for Saturday Aug 22nd (2 weeks from today) for a block party hosted at Leverett Lounge & Sit and Spin.
We will be taking donations for cooling shelter items needed:

▶️Reusable Water Bottles
▶️Electrolyte Packages or Drinks
▶️Individually Wrapped Shelf Stable Snacks
Clothing Swap inside Sit and Spin and Leverett Lounge will have beer and wine for sale to beat the heat.
Face painting, food, music, and visiting with neighbors about the Fayetteville we want to build into the future.
This is a campaign event to raise funds for reelection for Ward2 city council, but anyone welcome and donations not required to attend.

This is our regular monthly meeting of Indivisible NWA - we meet on the third Saturday of every month somewhere in Northwest Arkansas.

The Northwest Arkansas Branch of the NAACP was chartered through the efforts of Dr. John L Colbert.
Join members on the 2nd Monday of each month at Welcome Health 6:30 PM to get involved with improving the political, educational, social, and economic status of minorities and eliminating racial prejudice in Northwest Arkansas. All are welcome.
